Mona Lisa...

There is a new museum in San Francisco called
The museum of African Diaspora....
or more commonly known as MoAD....
It's right around the corner
from the MoMA...It's a beautifully designed building
with some amazing artwork and installations...
and the best part about this new museum...

I'M IN IT!!

I'm part of a permanent installation... My face appears on a video screen...
and gets morphed into other faces. It's pretty damn cool....

So check out the website...http://www.moadsf.org

And check me out....
http://www.moadsf.org/exhibits/index.html

Ok, ok...I'm no Mona Lisa and
my 15 minutes of fame is more like 5 seconds...
but hell, I'll TAKE IT!....

Hooray For Hollywood....

If I were a nail-biter, I'd be down to the second
knuckle by now...I'm all anxious about the
Oscars...Ok, before you go all Cindy Sheehan
on my ass, I know that there are more important
things to be anxious about...the war...the economy...
the tapped phone...the terrorist next door...the
terrorist in the White House...The Visa bill that
just arrived.

But here's my dilemma...I loved Brokeback Mountain.
I loved the book when I read it years ago, and I
loved the film. A movie about lost love, portrayed
by fine actors, filmed in a picturesque countryside,
with music that make your heart swell. I want it to
win EVERYTHING!

But then there is CRASH.

This courageous film tackles a sensitive subject
in a way that I've never seen before....great story,
great editing, great directing, over-the-top great
acting. I mean Sandra Bullock acts her butt off...
YES!...that's right, Sandra Bullock. The messages
and images that this film put forth have stayed
with me to this very day...I don't think I'll ever be
the same. I want it to win EVERYTHING!

Brokeback has raised the bar for Gay storytelling.

CRASH has started a dialogue about racism and
stereotyping that was sorely needed.

In a sense...these films have made winners of us all.

I'll Always Love My Mama...

My little sister called me with a strange question...
she's polling all the kids to see what we call our
Mother.... I call her Mom...she calls her Mommy,
as does my younger brother. There are 2 more
siblings yet to answer the question.

It got me thinking about all the names we come
up with for our family members. Aunt, Auntie,
Unc, Nana, PawPaw, Dad, Grannie.

Does anyone say Mother or Father anymore?

What do you call your Parents?

You Ain't Nothin' But a Houndog...

My good friends' dog died...
She wasn't a Houndog...she was a
5 year old Shar-Pei named Rosie.

Sweet. Funny. Loving.

I hope there is a doggie-heaven...
'cause that's where she belongs.

Good-night Rosie. Sweet dreams.

I Shot The Sheriff But I Did Not Shoot The Deputy...

Our President shoots himself in the foot
whenever he opens his mouth...and our
Vice President shoots other people...
and keeps his mouth shut about it.

Can we please just VOTE THEM
OFF THE ISLAND.

Love To Love Ya Baby...

It's Valentine's Day and as usual I made a card
for my honey...I like doing this because anyone
can buy a pre-made card with someone else's
pre-made thoughts... but my honey deserves so
much more than that...so I pulled out the siccors,
colored paper, rubber stamps and my imagination.

My honey made a card for me too...actually it was
a pre-made card...but he added a collage and a
poem he'd written and it was beautiful...just like him.

Happy Valentine's Day to all you lovers out there.
