Curtin Up...Light The Lights

My straight friend Eric invited me to go the
theater with him...who would have thunk it...
a straight man and a gay man...what a pairing...
he took me to see Edward Albee's play, 'The Goat, Or
Who Is Sylvia'...and can I just say, beastiality never
seemed so uhh, normal...not that I'm into it or anything...
for me stroking the kitty and spanking the monkey
are just euphemisms...nothing more...
but the main character falls for a
Tin Can Eater and makes you believe
it's as natural as peanut butter and chocolate...
(drool...peanut butter...chocolate)

but I digress...

maybe you have a dog or whatevah, that you
really, REALLY, LOVE...c'mon...tell the truth...
you've thought about it haven't you?
Go see this play and then tell me what you think.
On saturday I'll see Batman starring Christian Bale...
I'll let you know if a gay man can fall in love
with a BAT
and live
happily
ever
after.

Them there eyes...

of mine are getting a little bloodshot...
from READING of all things.
I go in spurts...
Sometimes I can go months without picking up a book...
But at the moment I'm juggling 3.

Hey I'm no Oprah (tho' I'm told we favor
one another), but I feel compelled to
suggest these books to you.

I started with Extreme Exposure
by Jo Bonney...it's not what you think...
it's an anthology of texts from
solo performances...Whoopie, Moms Mabley, John Leguizamo,
Lily Tomlin, Anna Deavere Smith and many more
extraordinary writer/performers...

Then there is Devil In The White City
by Erik Larson...
the chapters alternate with the voice of
the architect who built the Chicago Worlds Fair
and the voice of the serial killer who stalked
the Worlds Fair...both real people...
If you like your books drenched in history
and infused with entertainment
then this page turner is for you.

Third on my list...
The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
...given to me by my friend Steve...
If you're feeling 'stuck'...you know...
emotionally...and who hasn't been there,
then get outta bed, get dressed,
pour a hot cuppa joe and read this
wise and inspiring tale.
A favorite quote from the book:
"To realize one's destiny is a person's only obligation"

So go ahead...read...exercise your mind...
and remember the words of Dan Quale
who was trying to say A Mind Is A Terrible
Thing To Waste...instead he said:
"What a waste it is to lose one's mind.
Or not to have a mind is being
very wasteful. How true that is."

It's a Family Affair

10 DAYS WITH THE IN-LAWS...I know what your thinking....
take that 'I'm so sorry for you' look off your face...
it was a great trip...(mostly)...of course it's
always a challenge to be in someones' home for that
long and maintain a high level of socialbility...
AND you have to smile all the time...my cheeks
still hurt...but here's the secret to making it
work...have a partner that understands the
challenges you have to face...have a partner that
checks in with you periodically to see how you are...
have a partner who will take care of your needs...
have a partner like mine....(I said LIKE mine...sorry,
you'll have to get your own)...
By the way...Providence RI is a pretty livable town...
I could see myself living there someday...AND I'd
be just a little closer to my own family...and be
able to spend more time with them....of course
then I'd have to play the attentive partner...
